Bund Volume Calculator

Calculate the minimum secondary containment (bund) volume required for your drum or IBC storage under UK Environment Agency PPG guidance and COSHH regulations. The standard rule requires bund capacity of at least 110% of the largest single container, or 25% of total storage capacity — whichever is greater.

Step 1: Enter Your Storage Details

⚠️ Important Notes

  • This calculator provides guidance only. Always consult your site EHS advisor and the Environment Agency for your specific situation.
  • The 110% rule applies to the net internal volume of the bund (excluding the volume occupied by containers and equipment inside it).
  • For flammable liquids, additional requirements under DSEAR 2002 and fire regulations may apply.
  • Bunds must be impermeable to the substances stored and chemically resistant.
